Department Summary
Rec Sports provides programs and services to the university community. The goal is to provide a positive environment to assist those individuals in exploring and learning about recreation and fitness activities, in order to enhance a better quality of life and to become active members of the community. We employ approximately 250 students each year through various programs including intramural sports, informal recreation, group exercise, sport clubs, fitness, faculty/staff fitness, special events, outdoor pursuits and aquatics. Position Overview
This position is responsible for assisting with the planning, conducting, managing, staffing and equipping of the Informal Recreation program within Recreational Sports. Additionally, this position supervises the evening operations in the Pohl Recreation Center and other auxiliary facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Job Duties
- Programming: Offer a variety of programs that meet the needs of the UNT community. Contribute to the marketing materials, strategies and outreach efforts.
- Facility Management: Manage the day to day operations and maintenance of the Pohl Recreation Center and auxiliary facilities. This also includes managing a variety of equipment throughout each facility. Ensure space is available for informal recreation programs. Coordinate all reservations, including communication, scheduling, staffing and supervising, for recreational sports space internally for all program areas and externally for the campus community, including departments, student organizations and occasionally non-university groups.
- Risk Management: Ensure that all space and equipment in each facility is in safe, operating condition and work with the appropriate maintenance staff, facility managers or service contractors to ensure the necessary repairs are made. Train all staff on emergency response, how to diffuse difficult situations and certifications are maintained.
- Fiscal Management: Develop, manage and monitor the informal recreation program budget including, travel, American Red Cross trainings and equipment, student wages and equipment purchases.
- Staff Administration: Manage the hiring, training and staffing for the informal recreation program, including the Staff Coordinators, Member Services staff, and activity area supervisors. Follow university procedures for hiring part time staff. Know and follow the student employment policy.
- Member Services: Responsible for departmental sales of all memberships, lockers and services to the university community as well as access control. This includes cash handling, point of sale and member management software oversight, reconciling, and training of staff on policies and procedures.
- Communication: Communicates in a clear and concise manner that helps the listener avoid confusion. Interacts with others in a way that builds relationships. Responses to verbal and written responses are provided in a prompt and timely manner.
