UNT Health is the academic clinical practice for the Health Science Center. Focused on improving health outcomes to build a healthier community, UNT Health primary and multispecialty care clinics are located on the UNT Health Fort Worth, Denton, and Dallas UNT campuses. Our care teams extend to local hospitals, surgery centers, long term and continuing care centers, and mobile and in-home care. UNT Health’s interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Position Overview
UNT Health is seeking to hire a Health Business Specialist to join our team. This position is highly focused on the resolution of insurance processing errors and/or denials. Responsible for optimizing physician reimbursement. Provide financial, administrative, and clerical support related to claims. Research claims with no payment or response from payor. Analyze denials to identify trends and determine most expedient methods of collecting reimbursement for services provided. Resolve claims issues and other discrepancies according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner. Answer incoming patient billing calls. Review claim billing for accurate patient balances and maintain patient payment plans.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education or experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate coding and billing processes are completed.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with others.
- Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing accounts to identify and correct errors in a timely manner.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address and correct denial trends.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: NextGen experience. Bilingual
Job Duties
- Set up and maintain patient payment plans. Process patient payments .
- Review claim billing for accuracy in regard to patient billing.
- Take incoming patient billing calls to review and address all patient billing questions.
- Work denied claims reports to correct and either rebill or appeal claims in a timely manner to ensure timely file deadlines are met.
- Contact insurance payers regarding claim denials for reprocessing.
- Stay current on insurance payer billing guidelines and changes .
- Review claim denials for billing and payer processing accuracy.
- Track denial trends and determine most expedient methods of collecting reimbursement for services provided.
