Position Overview
System IT is a component of The University of North Texas System. The mission of System IT is simple: to be the best at delivering customer-aligned IT solutions and services. Our services are provided to all member institutions using an IT shared services governance model. System IT is looking to hire an Identity Support Analyst to join our team.
The Identity Support Engineer will receive tickets from the helpdesk relating to student and staff identity issues, such as preferred name changes, Active Directory lockouts, requests to change email addresses and passwords, VPN access, and multi-factor authentication. The Identity Support Engineer may be required to troubleshoot and understand java script and python scripts used in the account management lifecycle, diagnose server issues, and use Splunk and Elastisearch to gather log information for escalations. This is an evolving role that will grow to include new Identity Management and Governance technologies over time.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field and three (3) years of work experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of techniques and software used in Identity Management
- Skill in analyzing and organizing technical data.
- Skill in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods, and other computer applications
- Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
- Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to implement new systems and procedures and to evaluate their effectiveness.
- Ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and effectively both verbally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Higher Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
- Experience administering NETIQ Identity Manager
- Experience with Radius Authentication
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or EntraID
- Experience implementing Shibboleth or other SSO technologies
- Experience implementing Duo MFA or other multifactor technology

Job Duties:
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users encountering identity and access-related issues. Investigate and resolve incidents, service requests, and escalations within defined SLAs. Collaborate with senior engineers to resolve complex technical problems and optimize system functionalities.
- System Administration: Configure and maintain user accounts, groups, roles, and permissions within AD and NETIQ platforms. Monitor system health, performance, and security, implementing proactive measures to prevent issues.
- Identity Lifecycle Management: Understand and work within the identity lifecycle management process, including user provisioning, deprovisioning, and account modifications. Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and automation workflows to streamline identity lifecycle operations.
- Integration and Synchronization: Facilitate integration between identity management systems and other university applications and directories including Single Sign On and Multifactor Authentication.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices to safeguard identity information and prevent unauthorized access. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to conduct periodic audits, assessments, and compliance reviews. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging threats, and regulatory requirements related to identity management and data privacy.
