Department Summary

The Transportation Services department is responsible for parking and transit operations on the UNT campus. This includes maintenance and oversight of parking lots, collaboration with the Denton County Transportation Authority, managing our own Night Flight evening ride system, and more. This position serves the department’s internal and external communications needs, working in collaboration with our 20 full-time and multiple part-time staff members which include student employees. We are a data-driven organization that highly values thoughtful and fiscally-responsible decisions. We also value the role we play in the safety and support of our students and the entire UNT campus.

Position Overview

This position works with the Division of Finance Administrations Director of Communication. It will allow an early to midcareer individual a chance to expand their skills and receive professional support that will give them an opportunity to grow their career. The position support both internal and external communication through a variety of creative methods writing, social media, graphic design, photography, and videography.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years' of experience in communications, marketing, advertising, or public relations; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

*Thorough understanding of market segmentation, principles of marketing, integrated marketing communications principles and branding.
*Proficiency in MS Office and requisite publishing, graphic design and media tools.
*Ability to think creatively, organize tasks, work independently and meet deadlines.
*Considerable knowledge of Associated Press style.
*Ability to visually inspect products in multiple formats and assess and improve.
*Ability to coordinate and supervise the work of others.
*Proficiency in MS Office and requisite publishing and graphic design software.

Job Duties:

• Create strong, positive branding for the Parking/Transportation department. 
• Monitor, post and analyze success of the Parking/Transportation social media accounts. 
• Interview staff members and write stories for the Parking/Transportation and Division website, social media and newsletters. 
• Represent the Parking/Transportation department and develop strong partnerships with coworkers and across campus. 
• Produce photos and videos at various events. 
• Create flyers and other types of graphics. 
• Assist Parking/Transportation with its communications, helping to strengthen their messaging and skills. 
• Assist with focus groups/learning sessions that address staff and external customer needs. 

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm with occasional weekend or off-work hours.
