Department Summary
The Department of Biological Sciences, one of four departments in the College of Science, has over 45 faculty, 160 graduate and 2,800 undergraduate students. We offer courses at the Denton and Frisco campuses. Our faculty is a community of scholars dedicated to research and teaching in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, Ecology, Environmental Science, Plant Biology, and Organismal-environment interactions. Position Overview
The postdoctoral researcher will work on projects aimed at understanding extracellular vesicle-mediated modulation of tumor microenvironment and developing novel RNA-based therapeutics to target immunosuppressive cancers. We seek applicants with motivation to develop an independent research direction and knowledge and experience in extracellular vesicle biology, tumor biology, mouse studies, and potentially single-cell omics, immunology, and synthetic RNA biology.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related field.
• Ability to design and conduct experiments both independently and collaboratively as needed
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in extracellular vesicle isolation and downstream functional assays
• Experience in cancer cell culture and tumor studies in mice
• Research experience in extracellular vesicle biology and tumor biology
• Extensive knowledge of complex multi-variate statistical analyses
• Developing record of quality peer-reviewed publications
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in single-cell transcriptomics and/or proteomics
• Experience in immunology and synthetic RNA biology
• Experience in writing grant or fellowship applications
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Design and conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments independently and collaboratively as indicated above.
- Provide informal mentoring to undergraduates and graduate students.
- Submit grant and fellowship applications to federal, state, and non-profit institutions.
