Department Summary
The University of North Texas Health at Fort Worth is excited to launch and grow its College of Nursing. The college of nursing is addressing the shortage of nurses in Texas, which has the second-fewest nurses per capita in the U.S. The College of Nursing has joined five other colleges and schools offering degree programs at HSC: the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions and College of Pharmacy.
Position Overview
UNT Health Science Center (HSC) College of Nursing is seeking an application for a 50% full time equivalent (FTE) remote, Professor of Simulation position with direct report to the Sr. Associate Dean. The successful candidate will lead simulation courses, strategic planning in simulation, support simulation research, and mentor junior faculty across all locations in evidence-based simulation. The position is a professor rank, non-tenure appointment.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in nursing or related field along with an MSN.
- A record of scholarly research and publication in nursing or related fields.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Deep understanding of simulation theory, design, implementation, and evaluation in healthcare education.
- Proven ability to lead curriculum development, strategic planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to mentor others in design, completion, and dissemination of high-impact research in simulation science.
- Demonstrated success in mentoring junior faculty and graduate students, fostering academic growth and scholarly productivity.
- Skill in integrating simulation into nursing curricula using evidence-based approaches and emerging technologies.
- Ability to work across disciplines to enhance simulation-based learning and research.
- Capacity to contribute to long-term planning and innovation in simulation education and research.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for academic, clinical, and public audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recognized as a Fellow in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
- Mentorship experience with junior faculty and graduate students in simulation.
- Expertise in Healthcare Simulation.
- Experience as a nurse scientist.
- Demonstrated excellence in research, teaching and service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
- A Ph.D. in nursing or related field along with an MSN.
Job Duties
- Lead and teach simulation-based courses within the College of Nursing.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives in healthcare simulation.
- Support and collaborate on research projects focused on simulation.
- Mentor junior faculty and graduate students in simulation pedagogy and scholarship.
- Promote excellence in teaching, research, and service aligned with the College’s mission.
- Participate in academic committees and contribute to the advancement of simulation education.
- Work across disciplines to enhance simulation-based learning and research.
- Contribute to long-term planning and innovation in simulation education and research.
