About Us - Values Overview:
Department Summary
The Department of Studio Art offers students an intensive exploration across a breadth of media and within a depth of discipline that allows students to prepare to be an artist, begin a career in the arts, continue their studies in graduate school, or become leaders and educators. Students gain skills and competencies, including team-based learning, technology, communication, aesthetic judgment, interdisciplinary and innovative approaches, critical analysis, and professional development throughout their program of study.
Position Overview
As a continuance of a public project developed by the Art In Public course offered by the Department of Studio Art in Fall 20204, we’re putting together a team to design, build, and install a brand-new public sculpture for the City of Lewisville, and we’re looking for some creative artists to join the project!
Here’s what’s happening:
Two lead artists—one student and one professional—are heading up the design and fabrication. They’re taking care of the big picture: finalizing the design, ordering materials, and managing the installation process.
Now, we’re looking for 2–3 assistants to help bring this sculpture to life! You’ll get hands-on experience with fabrication and installation, work directly with experienced artists, and be part of a real-world public art project.
Time Commitment: Around 30 hours per person over the course of a few weeks.
Pay: $20/hour
What You’ll Do: Assist with building, assembling, and installing the sculpture
This is an awesome opportunity to grow your skills, collaborate on a professional-level project, and contribute to a piece of public art that’ll be enjoyed by the community for years to come.
Sound like your kind of project? Reach out—we’d love to hear from you!
