Department Summary
The Institute for Health Disparities (IHD) conducts research, training and community outreach in the areas of minority health, health disparities and workforce diversity. Constituting the IHD are the Texas Center for Health Disparities, Texas CEAL Consortium, Diversity Training Programs and the NIMHD Endowment.
Position Overview
This person will assist the Executive Director and Associate Director in the overall processes of the daily functions of the AIM-AHEAD Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Advanced written communication skills. Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively. Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to plan, lead, and manage projects within deadlines. Excellent time management skills, including attention to detail, ability to problem solve. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary settings, as part of a team or independently. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Ability to analyze data and prepare presentations and publications, WordPress.
Job Duties:
- Prepare reports, memos, letters, and other documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software.
- Prepare agendas and attend meetings to record minutes.
- File and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports
- Maintain schedules and calendars and make travel arrangements
- Coordinate and direct office services, such as records, departmental finances, budget preparation, personnel issues, and housekeeping.
- Submission and Tracking of emails and documents.
Physical Requirements:
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Environmental Hazards:
No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
