Position Overview
The Sr. Budget Analyst in the Budget Office provides a high level of customer service and serves as the Budget Offices liaison and central point of contact to departmental staff across campus. The Analyst position is responsible for assisting with the planning, preparation and implementation of the budget process and budget management. They are responsible for analyzing departmental budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
Ability to Analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
Ability to recognize, analyze and solve a variety of problems
Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data
Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of accounting, budgetary, and management principles, practices, and procedures
Preferred Qualifications

Job Duties:
- Analyze monthly departmental budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls
- Assist Business Coordinator position with reviewing budget error exceptions on transactions and determine if budget override can be processed
- Assist with the Budget Development process
- Review and approve ePARs (Payroll transaction forms) submitted by departments
- Use the PeopleSoft financial system to create budget journals, journal entries and ABA transfers
- Provide frontline customer service, giving guidance to and answering questions from departmental staff
- Serve as Budget Office liaison to departmental units across campus
- Analyze budget balances and prepare budget reports
- Provide one on one training to departmental staff on the Automated Budget Authorization (ABA), Axiom Reports, and general budget processes
- Assist Sr. Financial and Reporting Analysts on as needed basis
- Serve as back-up to the Business Coordinator position
- Uphold and support existing University policies and procedures and make recommendations that enhance its business practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
