Position Overview
This position will oversee evening operations of the University Union, providing additional support to student staff, and serving as a liaison with guests and university users. This position will assist with the overall management and security of the facility. This position will analyze situations that occur and coordinate with additional staff as needed, such as campus police, Union maintenance staff, UNT facilities on call, and external contractors or skilled labor, such as plumbers, elevator technicians, etc. This position will be main contact for access and security needs in the union after 5pm.will assist with the overall management and security of the facility. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED equivalent and one year related experience in building operations and/or event facility management. Substitution of education for experience allowed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to keep records and complete forms accurately.
Ability to direct and manage the work of others.
Ability to recognize and to report maintenance needs in buildings.
Physical ability to perform work involving standing, stooping and some lifting.
Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Knowledge of database management and event management software preferred. Experience on a university or college campus.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Serves as first point of contact in responding to facility and customer concerns during evening and weekend hours. Handles emergency situations in accordance with established policies and procedures. Directs evacuations as necessary
- Provide support to student staff in the evenings, to include building managers, information desk workers, and game room assistants. Provide leadership, mentorship, training and direction to assigned employees. Assists in hiring, training, and supervising Building Managers.
- Inspects buildings and facilities for cleanliness and needed repairs; works with team to address issues and submits work orders.
- Serves as a liaison with guests and University users to ensure effective operations in the facility. Coordinates with Set Ups Supervisors, Building Managers, PM Facilities Supervisor, Event Services and AV Technicians to ensure successful evening operations.
- Building Access and Security: Assist with key watcher access and badge creation; Assist with managing door schedules for areas within the Union; Perform video surveillance tasks
- Completes all work using safe work habits and methods to prevent injuries, using equipment properly and in the manner required or directed, keeping all equipment in good working order and following storage procedures, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to your supervisor
- Aid Asst Dir. Operations in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment.
- May assist with striking, cleaning, and setting up ballroom and other rooms for special events as needed.
- Support, enforce comply with and stay current about University and departmental policies, procedures, mission statement, and commitment to service.

Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
