Department Summary

The College of Music is seeking a Senior College Recruiter to join its team. This position works closely with the Director of Admissions to support all aspects of student recruitment and enrollment initiatives for the College of Music. The Senior College Recruiter is also responsible for serving as the Camp Coordinator for all College of Music-sponsored camps and workshops, overseeing the application process and customer service functions to ensure successful program delivery, a positive participant experience, and high levels of engagement.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for serving as Camp Coordinator for all College of Music sponsored camps and workshops. The position is also responsible for working alongside the Director of Admissions in all aspects of College of Music student recruitment and enrollment initiatives – working title is Assistant Director of Admissions and Camp Coordinator. This position involves extensive travel and night and weekend responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in recruiting, academic advising, academic counseling, student services, or related experience or can substitute education for experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong presentation skills and problem solving skills. Highly developed interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Experience with Microsoft Office Products. Ability to obtain credit card for travel. Good driving record and access to a vehicle. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Professional in appearance, motivated, selfdirected and have the ability and willingness to communicate enthusiastically with populations in a positive, courteous and professional manner. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Willingness to travel (may be extensive).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the arts admissions.

Job Duties

  • Manage audition, admission, and COM tour inquiries. Respond and forward when appropriate. Assist with the coordination and presentation of College of Music tour and information sessions. Assist Director of Admissions in registering for recruitment events including college fairs, conventions, etc. Review data to make informed decisions regarding effective recruitment strategies and initiatives
  • In consultation with the Director of Admissions, coordinate and attend COM annual audition days; process applications received in the online database; communicate with auditionees concerning audition arrangements. Send schedules of audition times to faculty; coordinate schedule of auditions to collaborative piano coordinator for collaborative pianists, and other specific areas as needed
  • Assist the Director of Admissions in supervision of the College of Music Student Ambassadors and Program. Build annual training schedule and monitor student progress throughout the tour process and events. 
  • Serve as direct supervisor for student workers in the College of Music Admissions, Awards and Camps Office.
  • Post job, verify employment eligibility, interview, hire, train, and monitor progress for student workers. Extensive on and off-campus recruitment event participation; includes overnight and weekend travel, as necessary. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the dean.
  • Build and maintain relationships with on and off-campus partners which benefit our college enrollment initiatives, including UNT Admissions, UNT Eagle Ambassadors, local schools and directors, youth music organizations, camps, etc.
  • Serve as primary point of contact between all UNT and COM offices for camps and workshops. Ensure compliance is maintained with Youth Protection and fiscal operations, including background checks, mandatory training, third-party facility use agreements, and obtaining requisite insurance. 
  • Direct all camp related activities specific to the application, registration, marketing, room reservations, refunds, customer service, and Acceptd system.
  • Strategic planning of current and potential camps; to include budget review, recommendations for growth, and facilitate transition of camp attendees to admission prospects.
