Department Summary

The Office of Sponsored Programs, a department under the Division of Research and Innovation at UNT Health, provides pre-award, post-award, and contract services to support faculty and other investigators while promoting compliance with federal and state agencies, private sponsor agreements, and UNT Health research policies.

Position Overview

The Senior Contract Analyst supports faculty and staff in development, coordination, and administration of federal, state, and private contracts for sponsored project activities; manages and performs the process of reviewing contracts to external funding sources; serves as an institutional business liaison to sponsoring agencies; facilitates compliance related to contracts under the position’s purview; reviews and negotiates terms and conditions of contracts with sponsors; drafts and negotiates sub-agreements as necessary; trains junior contracts professionals in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP); trains new staff on use of contract management software; develops training and presents to research community, including faculty and department research administrators; provides guidance to department and college support staff and faculty members.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and five (5) years related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Up to date knowledge of applicable law, federal and state grant guidelines, including but not limited to FARS, DFARS, 2 CFR 200, and Uniform Grant Management Standards.
  • Ability to express self in a professional manner.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and in writing.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to match others' level of understanding.
  • Ability to conceptualize, analyze, and evaluate information to reach conclusions and make sound decisions.

Job Duties

  • Initiate ProjID award setup in EIS System/PeopleSoft upon receipt of Notice of Grant Awards. 
  • Ensure that proposals meet sponsor requirements, regulatory compliance requirements, and University, Federal and State policies and regulations governing sponsored research, and that proposals are submitted to sponsors correctly and according to appropriate deadlines.
  • Review and approve expenditures, including but not limited to ePro requisitions for purchases, Pcard transactions, travel reimbursements, and approve ePARs for payroll allocation requests on sponsored research projects. 
  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries regarding award management to include budget concerns, account status, carry forward requests, and subsequent years of funding.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with external sponsors for all sponsored project related communication, scope of work, interpret and apply sponsor terms and conditions and applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, policies, and items requiring prior sponsor approval via email, phone calls or sponsor electronic websites for requests submissions.
  • Provide training as needed to PIs/Department Research Administrators.
  • Ensure subrecipient monitoring compliance concerns are managed appropriately.
