Department Summary

Facilities Management has a mission to make the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth a place where the facilities and grounds are aesthetically pleasing, clean, well maintained, and energy-efficient. Facilities Management provides responsive, friendly, and efficient customer support to appropriately support the institutional mission.

Position Overview

The Facilities Management Services Administration Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Senior Custodian to join their team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Dust all verticalhorizontal surfaces, sweep, vacuum carpet, spot clean walls as needed. Collect and dispose of trash/recycling. Wet/dry mop floors, clean/disinfect restrooms, restock supplies, polish stainless/chrome, spot clean glass/mirrors. Spot clean upholstery and other duties as needed. All duties are interchangeable and required as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and five (5) years of experience in floor care and maintenance. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of cleaning materials, procedures, best practices. Knowledge of heavyduty cleaning equipment. Knowledge of floor care and maintenance. Ability to work under tight deadlines and turnaround times. Ability to work with staff at all levels. Ability to effectively lead a team given general direction.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Five years custodial experience Bilingual Able to work well with others in a professional, respectful manner. Ensure prompt customer service. Supervise, train, schedule and monitor staff. Insure staff compliance to requirements. Perform any task assigned by Manager, complete all required paperwork on time and promote teamwork among staff. Must work Night shift 4:30 AM 1:00 PM, Monday Friday Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Supervisory experience a plus.

Job Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily work of floor technicians and custodial staff.
  • Train employees on proper floor care procedures, equipment use, and safety standards.
  • Schedule floor maintenance projects such as stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, and carpet cleaning.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; submit orders as needed.
  • Develop work schedules and assign tasks based on facility needs.
  • Ensure proper chemical handling and storage procedures are followed.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations and chemical-handling procedures.
  • Responding to customer or facility complaints and resolving service issues.
  • Preparing reports, tracking productivity, and communicating with management.

Physical Requirements

  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 50 pounds.

Environmental Hazards

  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.

Work Schedule

4:30PM-1:00AM M-F Overtime and some nights/weekends/holidays required as needed. This is an essential worker position and irregular work hours may also be required during extreme weather conditions.
