Department Summary

The Department of Teacher Education and Administration seeks to improve educational practice through the generation of knowledge and to prepare education professionals who serve all students. It focuses on the preparation of EC-6 secondary educators and school administrators who employ current theory and research.

Position Overview

The position coordinates various activities to recruit, retain, mentor students to support the mission and strategic plan of the academic program. Responsible for managing the daily operations of the program, including mass communications, publications, research and interacting with students and potential students. Supervises all administrative tasks related to strategic planning, travel logistics, and recruiting. This position is essential to providing high quality coaching and training, while nurturing the development of students.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong organizational skills and ability to execute multiple projects.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Job Duties

Responding to information requests from potential students and following up with them. Answering questions about transfer courses, degree requirements, and certification requirements.
Developing degree plans and certification plans with students. Ensuring students are aware of timelines and requirements for both the masters degree and the principal as instructional leader certification.
Maintaining data base and files for students as they progress through the masters and principal certification programs.
Facilitating student admissions processes, including communication with the Graduate School and assisting students as they submit program application materials. Organizing materials for admission committee.
Implementing the principal Internship, including working with students, school districts, and university internship supervisors.
Communicating with students on a regular and frequent basis about degree and program requirements. Answering questions about all aspects of the program and helping students navigate university processes. Regularly updating the Educational Leadership Handbook.
Facilitating the Graduate Academic Certificate (GAC) in Principal Preparation, including communication about the GAC and assistance to applicants.
Aiding in recruitment efforts, including input to maintenance for the COE website.

Administrative Specialist

The Computer Science Engineering Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Administrative Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to supporting enrollment of students through Override Enrollment requests, PERC reports, and generating permission codes for course enrollment, when necessary. This position serves as a backup for scheduling and Curriculog, and is trained to utilize Courseleaf (creating course schedules), Ad Astra (reserving rooms and scheduling), Curriculog (catalog and pre-requisite changes), and to create new sections of unorganized courses. This position also handles CPT (Curricular Practical Training) Program from the department's side, and is responsible for acting as the department's point of contact for the CPT program, processing CPT forms, and assisting with internship enrollment. This position also handles certificate evaluation and mailing by coordinating with faculty regarding special certificates and processing the awards until mailing them to the students.

Student Success Coordinator

The Student Success Coordinator supports the mission of the Office of Medical & Student Success through the development, implementation, and coordination of student success initiatives, leadership development programs, career development activities, and student engagement efforts. This position serves as the primary coordinator for the Advisory Colleges Program and Advisory Colleges Council (ACC), providing oversight and support for ACC student leaders while developing and implementing a longitudinal leadership curriculum designed to cultivate leadership, professionalism, service, and community engagement among medical students. The Student Success Coordinator collaborates with students, faculty advisors, academic leadership, and campus partners to enhance the medical student experience and promote student success through leadership development, event planning, career development programming, and co-curricular initiatives. This position also assists with academic advising initiatives, student outreach efforts, and other Office of Medical & Student Success programs and events.
