Department Summary
The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all UNT Health students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office for Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.
Position Overview
The Division of Student Affairs at UNT Health is seeking to hire an Assistant Director, Student Engagement to join our Center for Student Life team. The Assistant Director assists with the management of day to day operations within CSL and implements programs designed to promote a student centered environment. The assistant director will lead student peer to peer mentorship programs and is responsible for creating new and enhanced student activities that promote pride and establish new traditions. This position will assist with the execution of largescale campus involvement activities. The assistant director works closely with students to initiate, plan, develop and facilitate events and activities to enhance the quality of student life and UNTH experience for all students.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently.
- Working knowledge of large scale event planning.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel Services or related field Experience in retention and persistence strategies for students at graduate and professional school.
- Previous experience managing budgets and resources in higher education.
- Previous experience leading student focused, peer to peer mentorship efforts.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in computer technologies utilized in higher education institutions.
- Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of student development theory and practice in higher education.
Job Duties
- Design, coordinate, and execute student leadership programs (e.g. Peer Mentorship Program, structured leadership opportunities) that foster student leadership skills, professional growth, and campus involvement.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute the White Coat Ceremonies to support student engagement and leadership initiatives.
- Oversee budgetary allocations, including purchasing and reconciliation for student leadership initiatives and the White Coat Ceremonies, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with institutional goals and priorities.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators across departments to coordinate initiatives that support student leadership programming and the White Coat Ceremonies.
- Assess student leadership programs and the White Coat Ceremonies through data collection, feedback, and outcome measures to inform continuous improvement and strategic planning.
