The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all UNT Health students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office of Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.
Position Overview
The Division of Student Affairs the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Student Services Specialist to join our Center for Student Life team. This position supports engagement activities for both on campus and online student populations. Additionally, they will resolve routine issues of limited scope within own work area using general guidelines and standards or precedents as reference.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines in a high paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Higher Education with training on student affairs related theory and practice or other related masters level training.
- Three years experience in related field.
- Experience working with registered student organizations and/or student governments.

Job Duties:
- Serve as the official advisor to the Student Activities Board to assist with managing budgets, meetings, events, collaborations, recruitment, and assessments.
- Design and execute programs, events, and initiatives that foster a sense of belonging and community among online students.
- Encourage online students to participate in student involvement including but not limited to student governments, registered student organizations, campus programming, community service, and etc.
- Utilize online platforms (ex. Engage, YouTube, social media, emails etc.) to share resources, events, and announcements with online students.
- Monitor participation rates, gather student feedback, and assess the effectiveness of engagement initiatives to inform future programming.
- Oversee the CSL phone and provide assistance to other departmental initiatives.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Environmental Hazards:
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Noisy environments.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional evenings or weekends as required for divisional events.
