Department Summary

Transportation Services supports the University's mission by maximizing campus access through environmentally sustainable practices, superior customer service, and through innovation and professional management of transportation resources and facilities.

Position Overview

Person in this position protect people and property and enforce parking regulations in the University Community. This includes but is not limited to: Security Services including vehicular and foot patrol, building, and parking facility security/securement. Service Assistance including assistance with vehicle starting, open vehicles, changing/filling tires, providing directions and security escorts. Supporting the law enforcement and traffic functions of the UNT Police Department.

This position may be assigned to first or second shift depending on business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. A valid driver's license may be required to operate a motorized vehicle, including golf carts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Knowledge of campus geography and building locations (or ability to rapidly assimilate). Physical stamina to perform work which requires considerable standing, walking, and outdoor exposure. Ability to lift items up to approximately 50 lbs. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal range. Skill (or ability to develop skill) in the use of alarm and access devices, police radio equipment, basic office and computing equipment. Ability to make independent decisions concerning adherence to procedures and guidelines. Ability to function under pressure or in emergency situations. Skill in the safe operation of a vehicle (if position requires driving a University vehicle). Satisfactory driving record (if position requires driving a University vehicle). Ability to maintain insurability under the Universitys liability policy (if position requires driving a University vehicle).

Job Duties:

  • Consistently performs all duties as required related to building/facility security 
  • Consistently and fairly enforces parking rules and regulations 
  • Generates appropriate level of vehicle and/or foot patrol in and around campus facilities 
  • Ensures compliance with policies and appropriate statutes 
  • Ensures compliance with safety guidelines and procedures 
  • Uses appropriate discretion in resolving problems, performance issues, and complaints 
  • Work activities are directed toward optimal resource utilization workload (quantity of work) 
  • Work activities and outcomes are planned to exceed minimum standards (quality of work) 
  • Manages time well and completes assigned projects within established guidelines 
  • Works as a member of a team placing team goals ahead of individual goals
