UNT Dining Services is home to Mean Greens Café, the nation’s first 100% vegan collegiate dining hall, and Kitchen West, Texas’ first and only university dining hall certified Free From™ the Big 8 food allergens and gluten. In 2021, UNT introduced Eagle Landing, the university’s first standalone dining hall, inspired by urban food halls and featuring seven distinct restaurant concepts—all available for a single Meal Plan swipe.

Position Overview
The Food Service Supervisor provides direct oversight for a designated retail dining location within the UNT Campus Food Court. This position is responsible for enforcing all retail dining policies and procedures, supporting daily operations, and ensuring a high standard of customer service. The supervisor fosters a positive work environment, assists with training and onboarding of new hires, and supports operational tasks such as ordering and conducting weekly inventories. This role is directly accountable for the day-to-day operations of the assigned location.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED equivalent and two years of experience in institutional or commercial food preparation, including one year of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, or training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to follow instructions and supervise staff in a retail dining environment.
Experience with standardized recipes, menus, and high-volume food production.
Basic math skills for orders, inventory, and reporting accuracy.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Ability to train staff on equipment use and service procedures.
Understanding of large-scale food service operations, safety, and security practices.

ServSafe Certification (or equivalent) in food safety and sanitation, or can obtain within 6 months
Job Duties
- The Retail Food Service Supervisor ensures operational standards for food preparation, presentation, and safety are consistently met through managerial oversight. This includes supervising staff to guarantee adherence to established procedures, while ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations at all times. -
- Assesses service quality and customer satisfaction through established checkpoints. Upholds high standards for food quality and service to ensure a consistently excellent dining experience for all customers.
- Adheres to all University policies, health codes, and safety standards, regularly reviewing practices to ensure adherence.
