Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department at the University of North Texas (UNT) seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty opening at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in the area of Robotics and Control to support the continued growth of the Mechanical Engineering Department. This position emphasizes teaching, research and service, with a workload distribution of 30% teaching, 50% research and 20% service. Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, recruitment and supervision of graduate students, the development of an actively funded research program of the highest quality and impact, and service to the university and to the professional community.
Minimum Qualifications
All applicants must have a Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a closely related field.
Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate Professor rank should have a sustained record of scholarship and external research funding, successful mentoring of junior faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and recognized service activities. Must meet UNT’s criteria for tenure.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Postdoctoral research experience or equivalent industry experience.
2. Experience securing external funding for research projects.
3. Interest in contributing to emerging research areas in Texas including human-robot interaction and collaborative robotics in space or aerospace, healthcare, manufacturing or autonomous transportation applications.
