Department Summary
The University of North Texas Health at Fort Worth is excited to launch and grow its College of Nursing. The college of nursing is addressing the shortage of nurses in Texas, which has the second-fewest nurses per capita in the U.S. The College of Nursing has joined five other colleges and schools offering degree programs at HSC: the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions and College of Pharmacy.
Position Overview
UNT Health College of Nursing is seeking an application for an PT Assistant Professor position to serve as a faculty lead for the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program. This candidate will teach courses, develop curriculum, conduct research/scholarship, advise students, and engage in service to the department, university, and profession. The position is is non-tenure track appointment.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Masters’ Degree in Nursing.
- A valid, unencumbered nursing license in the state of Texas or eligibility for licensure.
- Practice experience in psychiatric nursing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A Masters’ Degree in Nursing.
- A valid, unencumbered nursing license in the state of Texas or eligibility for licensure.
- Practice experience in psychiatric nursing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in nursing preferred.
- Prior teaching experience in undergraduate nursing education.
- A record of scholarly research and publication in nursing or related fields.
- Experience in evidence-based simulation instruction and technologies.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Licensure or eligibility for licensures as an RN and APRN in Texas, National Board Certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
Job Duties
- Teach undergraduate nursing courses in assigned areas of expertise, delivering engaging instruction in classroom, clinical, and simulation settings.
- Develop and revise course materials aligned with AACN Essentials and TBON Differentiated Essential Competencies.
- Integrate competency-based education and innovative pedagogical strategies.
- Publish research and scholarship in peer-reviewed journals and present at professional conferences.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to nursing students.
- Supervise and evaluate student performance in clinical placements.
- Collaborate with preceptors and clinical partners to ensure quality learning experiences.
- Participate in scholarly activities, including research and publication.
- Participate in departmental and university committees and service activities and contribute to accreditation and strategic planning efforts.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing programs and curriculum.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching, research, and service.
