Department Summary

Facilities Management has a mission to make the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth a place where the facilities and grounds are aesthetically pleasing, clean, well maintained, and energy-efficient. We offer a working environment that promotes teamwork and professionalism. Facilities Management provides responsive, friendly, and efficient customer support to appropriately support the institutional mission.

Position Overview

Performs routine, general, custodial and maintenance tasks in the care and cleaning of assigned classrooms, offices and facilities and keeping them in a clean, sanitary and safe condition. Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition.

Minimum Qualifications

There are no minimum education or experience requirements. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of standard tools and equipment of the profession.
  • Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to operate personal computer with a general understanding of application software, and an understanding of the Internet.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

  • Able to understand chemical usage and application Must be able to use a back pack vacuum or upright vacuum Must be able to perform the job mechanics including standing, kneeling, pushing and reaching.
  • Prefer someone with a minimum of six months experience in custodial services.
  • Clear DMV required if operating a State Vehicle.

Job Duties

  • Disinfecting, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms.
  • Disinfecting and cleaning office areas.
  • Vacuuming.
  •  Cleaning public area glass, windows, entrance doors, and elevators. 
  • Cleaning laboratories. 
  • Trash and recycling removal. 
  • Report sanitary and safety hazards and the need for repairs to supervisor. 

Physical Requirements

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

Environmental Hazards

  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
