Position Overview

The Deputy Chancellor (DC) for Finance and Operations, reporting directly to the Chancellor, is the senior administrator who serves as the Chancellor’s lead executive responsible for the day-to-day operations and who serves as Acting Chancellor in the absence of the Chancellor.

Serving as the UNT System chief financial officer, this key executive role is responsible for overseeing the financial health and operational efficiency as well as maintaining fiscal integrity and sustainability of the UNT System. This position supervises the finance team that includes the Treasury, Accounting, Budget and Planning, and Procurement departments, and the Strategic Infrastructure & Planning department, ensuring that these functions operate effectively and align with the System’s strategic goals. Additionally, this position provides strategic oversight of all financial pathways that impact the UNT System enterprise including investments and fundraising.

The Deputy Chancellor for Finance and Operations will maintain cooperative working relationships with the Texas Legislative Budget Board, Governor’s Office of Budget and Planning, the Senate Finance Committee, House Appropriations Committee, Conference Committee, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and UNT System component institutions executives, faculty, and staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; and a minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible financial management experience, preferably in a Texas university system; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, or training.

* Demonstrated expertise in treasury, accounting, budget management, and procurement.
* Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
* Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Knowledge of financial software and systems relevant to higher education finance operations.

  • % - Budget Administration: * Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the consolidated and UNT System Administration's annual operating and capital budgets. * Oversee the preparation and development of the biennial Legislative Appropriations Request. * Provide strategic analysis and financial modeling to support resource allocation and long-term financial planning. * Work with academic and administrative units to align budgetary resources with strategic priorities. - (Essential)
