The Donated Body Program at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth supports education, research, and professional training through the ethical management and stewardship of anatomical donations. The program oversees donor registration, preservation, utilization, inventory management, and final disposition while maintaining the highest standards of donor dignity, regulatory compliance, and accountability. Through partnerships with academic programs, researchers, and healthcare professionals, the program provides essential resources that advance health sciences education, clinical training, and scientific discovery while honoring the profound gift of donor participation.
Position Overview
The Donated Body Transport Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of all transport staff within the Willed Body Program. This role ensures the efficient, professional, and respectful transportation of deceased individuals in accordance with departmental protocols and legal requirements. The Supervisor will lead the recruitment, training, and scheduling of transport personnel, maintain supply inventories, address staff performance issues and updating protocols. This position requires oversight of a 24/7 operation, ensuring staff availability for round-the-clock coverage and providing technical support to transport personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and five (5) years experience in the transportation of bodies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates in science or mortuary science with at least 2 years experience in related field.
Job Duties
- Directly supervise and manage a team of transport staff, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Lead the recruitment process, and overseeing the onboarding process for new hires.
- Develop, implement, and oversee training programs and SOPs for all new hires, ensuring they meet DBP standards for transport procedures, safety protocols, and client service.
- Update and maintain staff training documents quarterly, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Create and manage work schedule for all transport staff, ensuring 24/7 operational coverage and maintaining effective communication.
- Coordinate staffing, track time-off requests, and ensure appropriate coverage for all shifts, including on-call rotations.
- Oversee inventory management for all transport-related supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels at all times.
- Resolve operational issues, coordinate logistics for body transportation, and ensure the timely execution of duties in a respectful and professional manner.
- Carefully handle emergencies, urgent transport requests, and operational challenges as they arise.
