Department Summary

The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all UNT Health students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office for Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.

Position Overview

This position is part of the Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNT Health Fort Worth) and the Department of Testing and Evaluation Services. This position supports UNT Health students and academic departments with a wide variety of student assessment (examination/testing) activities including creating and administering assessments. This position fosters student success by ensuring student knowledge is effectively measured and academic curricular goals are achieved.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional Customer Service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines in a high paced, time-sensitive, accuracy-essential environment.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with a wide range of software programs including Word, Excel, and database management tools.
  • Experience with MacBooks is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A highly organized self-starter and an independent thinker with the ability to work collaboratively with fellow employees, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to set and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Experience in support roles, interacting with clients from multiple levels of an organization.
  • Experience in an academic support environment is preferable. Experience supporting and interacting with university faculty, students, and administration is a plus.
  • Experience administering and scoring examinations, and interpreting/explaining the results of student assessment data is a plus.
  • Confidence speaking before large groups.

Job Duties

  • Support academic departments with the entry of assessment items, creation of assessments, posting and delivering assessments, and reporting assessment results to faculty and students.
  • Manage student assessment related databases, including computer based item banks.
  • Provide updated item banks and assessment data reports as needed.
  • Manage the student assessment calendar.
  • Communicate with academic programs and students regarding overall testing schedule and makeup assessments.
  • Provide support for all assessments including proctor support when needed.
  • Process scantron based assessments. This will require a basic knowledge of computer operations and a willingness to learn new technology.
  • Maintain official gradebook for academic courses, including tracking of student absences and makeup procedures, applying assessment penalties as applicable based on program procedures, and processing final course reports.
  • Communicating with academic programs for final grade approval, communicating with the Registrars Office regarding grades to be uploaded, and notifying students of final grades.

  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional evenings or weekends as required for divisional events. Occasionally required to come in before 8:00am to set up on exam days .

Event Support Specialist

This position is responsible for assisting with all daily event staging setups and event administrative duties. Set-up configurations may require, but are not limited to, theatre, classroom, runway fashion shows or banquet seating configurations. This position adheres to event space guidelines and procedures as administered by the University Event Manager and campus standards set by the fire marshal. Also responsible for the appearance and high levels of cleanliness of the meeting rooms, event spaces, campus wide settings and staging areas.

Senior Academic Counselor

This position is responsible for providing counseling to students by appraising their interests, aptitudes, and abilities to develop a career path and degree fit. This role typically provides supervision to lower level staff directly or on a project basis but may serve as an expert or point of escalation for more complex projects or issues. Counsels students on academic pursuits through the completion of degree program; connects students with available resources for academic success and personal/professional development; researches and evaluates and delivers presentations on services provided. This position is responsible for creating and implementing programs related to student success and retention.

Sr Lab Animal Technician

The Sr Lab Animal Technician provides operational and technical support for the daily functions of the Vivarium Animal Lab. Reporting to and in collaboration with the Research Animal Lab Manager, this position ensures the delivery of high-quality animal care, mentors junior husbandry staff and supports regulatory compliance across institutional and federal standards.
