Department Summary

The UNT System Human Resources Department is one department made of a team of teams that supports various constituencies and component institutions within our UNT System Enterprise while working together to achieve the vision of becoming an enterprise that is values-driven and customer-focused with an emphasis on excellence, curiosity, and innovation. Position Overview

The Human Resources Department at the University of North Texas System is seeking to hire a Human Resources Business Partner to join our team. This role serves as a strategic HR partner, fostering strong relationships across departments to support employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness. It leverages HR data to inform decision-making, ensures policy compliance, and guides departments through change management and process improvements. The position also supports professional development, compensation and classification strategies, and contributes to HR program enhancements. Through cross-functional collaboration and independent project management, it ensures seamless HR service delivery aligned with university goals.

To be considered for the classification of Senior HR Business Partner, you must meet these additional qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in HR or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in HR or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources management; of human resources programs such as employment, compensation, classification, employee relations, benefits, workers compensation, or organizational development; and of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing personnel activities.
  • Skill in oral and written communication, in conducting interviews, in using computers and human resources related software applications, in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing, and in problem solving.
  • Ability to explain policies and procedures to staff and the public; to maintain confidential and sensitive information; to develop and analyze human resource processes; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, employees, and the general public; to communicate effectively; and to plan, assign, and/or guide the work of others.
  • Skill in using office computer information systems to organize, store, manipulate and retrieve data.
  • Critical thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRMCP/SCP Certification
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Higher Education experience

Job Duties

  • Acts as a strategic partner to department leaders and employees by fostering strong relationships, proactively addressing workplace concerns, and enhancing morale and retention through regular strategic rounding. Provides expert guidance on conflict resolution, coaching, progressive discipline, and grievance procedures. 
  • Use HR analytics to identify trends, inform decision-making, and support strategic planning. Provide insights that enhance workforce planning and partner with recruitment on talent strategies. 
  • Interpret and advise on HR policies, procedures, and employment laws. Ensure consistent application and support compliance across departments. 
  • Support departments through organizational change, restructuring, and process improvement initiatives. Facilitate constructive change and promote continuous improvement. 
  • Collaborate with departments to identify development needs and deliver targeted training, coaching, and growth strategies aligned with individual and University goals. 
  • Provide consultative support on job classification, compensation strategies, and market alignment in partnership with other UNT System HR teams. 
  • Contribute to the enhancement of HR programs by providing feedback, identifying gaps, and supporting implementation of new initiatives that support both UNT System and campus strategic goals. 
  • Serve as a liaison between departments and UNT System HR functions (e.g., benefits, payroll, compensation) to ensure seamless service delivery. 
  • Independently manage HR-related projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with the university's priorities.

Police Officer II

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Police Officer II. This position performs all duties normally associated with employment as licensed police officer, including, preventive patrol, arrest, search seizure, traffic enforcement, crash investigation, public safety and service, investigation of criminal incidents, and maintaining public order on the university campus and surrounding area. Work involves patrolling day and night all campus areas, buildings and parking lots. The UNT Dallas Police Department is responsible for providing law enforcement and security services for the University of North Texas at Dallas Main Campus and The College of Law. Police Officers must exercise good judgment and discretion in dealing with violators of laws and University regulations. Police Officers may be required to work special assignments, special events or be on call. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Conducts regular patrols inside and outside of buildings, parking lots, and around the campus grounds to watch for criminal activity, unsecured buildings, fires, and any other unusual conditions or irregularities. Investigates reports of criminal behavior and university regulations. Arrests violators and files appropriate charges where and when such action is appropriate.
