Recreational Sports strives to provide the kind of recreational experiences that not only support the wellness of the UNT community but inspire it. Programs include Aquatics, Esports, Fitness, Intramurals, Outdoor Pursuits, and Sport Clubs. In addition, the Pohl Recreation Center offers over 138,000 square feet of recreation space including, basketball courts, an indoor track, a weight room, two group fitness studios, a climbing wall, two pools and a sand volleyball court.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports, the Intramural Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day programming and evening supervision of intramural sports leagues, tournaments, and single-day events. This position plays a key role in the hiring, training, and development of student officials and supervisors, as well as supporting field operations, risk management, and equipment oversight for all intramural activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
*Knowledge of intramural sports rules, formats, and best practices
*Experience training and supervising student staff and sports officials
*Ability to manage field and facility logistics effectively
*Clear and professional written and verbal communication
*Basic budgeting and purchasing knowledge
*Ability to troubleshoot conflicts and resolve issues on-site
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in collegiate recreation programming and management
Experience hiring, training, and supervising student staff and sports officials
Masters degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education or related field
Experience with scheduling intramural events and leagues
Previous sports officiating experience
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Programming: Assist in the implementation of a variety of intramural activities. Contribute to the marketing materials, strategies and outreach efforts.
- Facility Management: Assist with the day to day operations of all field space used by the program. Ensure the appropriate space is reserved for all intramural activities with the facility staff.
- Fiscal Management: Assist with purchasing equipment for the intramural program and serve as backup on payroll for student staff.
- Staff Administration: Assist with the hiring, training and staffing for the intramural program, including the Graduate Assistant, student supervisors and officials. Follow university procedures for hiring full time and part time staff. Know and follow the student employment policy.
- Communication: Communicates in a clear and concise manner that helps the listener avoid confusion. Interacts with others in a way that builds relationships. Responses to verbal and written responses are provided in a prompt and timely manner.
- Risk Management: Ensure that all space and equipment used by the intramural program is in playable condition and work with the appropriate maintenance staff or facility managers to ensure the necessary fixes or repairs are made. All staff will be trained on emergency response, how to diffuse difficult situations and certifications are maintained.

Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.

Mon-Fri, 2pm-11pm and some weekends
