Position Overview
The System IT Department at the University of North Texas System is seeking to hire a Project Manager I to join our team. This position manages IT project initiatives and efforts across IT areas which includes infrastructure, application, and support related to the operations of UNT System, UNT Denton, UNT Dallas, and UNT Health Science Center. This position organizes and facilitates planning and performance of projects across functional teams. The incumbent is responsible and accountable for delivering quality products and projects on time and within budget. The Project Manager I is responsible for effective management and coordination of business and development teams, as well as subcontractors and suppliers. The work includes the planning and execution of IT projects and initiatives, monitoring progress, executing, and communicating with project stakeholders, subject matter experts, executive management, and other relevant parties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of project management work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Ability to lead technical and nontechnical teams in a project environment.
* Skills in using technology systems, equipment, and software.
* Ability to manage complex requirements and processes across organizational boundaries to successfully complete projects.
* Knowledge in managing Scrum teams.
* Knowledge of servant leadership.
* Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
* Ability to produce reports and weekly updates to management.
* Ability and experience working with people at all levels including team environments.
* Skills in technical and applications oriented information to help customers understand their needs and possible solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
* Certified Scrum Master.
* Experience in higher education environments.
* Experience with ServiceNow and Microsoft tools.
* Experience with other project methodologies that would support agile, waterfall, and hybrid implementation efforts.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Work with IT, internal business, and external teams to manage dependencies and remove impediments.
- Arrange and facilitate standup meetings, events, planning, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
- Encourage continuous improvement across projects and project teams.
- Deliver projects in partnership with project team on schedule and within budget and scope.
- Work with business owners to help ensure alignment with implementation teams.
- Facilitate project team through execution of feature requirements and initiatives with Agile practices.
- Communicate requirements for time, budget, and scope to program level for appropriate economic decisions.
- Manage risks and dependencies.
- Identify appropriate methodologies (i.e., Agile, Waterfall) for project implementation and manage to completion.
