Department Summary
The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic "bench-top" science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer's disease.
Position Overview
The Laboratory Manager position will manage and oversee the Proteomics Core Team lab of the Institute Wet Lab, manage and train all Institute Wet Lab Proteomics Core Team members both current and future on protocols, operations, processes, projects and studies related developments, and all Institute Wet Lab machines and robots. This position will be the liaison between ITR Core team leads and HSC Team Leads. This role will also serve as the backup for the entire ITR Wet Lab Proteomics Core Team absorbing all of their duties for continuity purposes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Duties:
- Supervise, train and mentor laboratory personnel to ensure lab personnel follow safety procedures and ensure compliance.
- Direct experimental planning, execution and coordination between lab personnel.
- Organize and maintain accurate usage records of materials and time expended on each project
- Practice current policies and procedures required to ensure compliance with the rules and regulation
- Supervise maintenance of all laboratory equipment, supplies, samples and data.
- Serve as lab contact with all service and product representatives.
- Become an expert across all processes and be a backup to provide coverage.
- Collaborate with Omics Core Research Laboratory Director on developing and updating SOPs
- Be on call for freezer monitoring system

- Monday - Friday; 8 AM - 5 PM;
