Department Summary
The College of Public Health (CPH) at The University of North Texas Health Science Center (HSC) seeks applications to fill a full-time assistant professor non-tenure track faculty in the Department of Population & Community Health. This 12-month, promotion-track appointment with a primary focus on community-engaged scholarship, teaching and learning aligns with the new strategic plan of the School of Public Health – IMPACT 2030. The new strategic plan aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the U.S. Healthy People 2030 plan, and HSC’s Whole Health initiative, reflecting our commitment to transformative education, engaged scholarship, social accountability, a community-centered approach and global relevance.
Position Overview
The College of Public Health (CPH) at The University of North Texas Health Science Center (HSC) seeks applications to fill a full-time assistant professor non-tenure track faculty in the Department of Population & Community Health. This 12-month, non-tenure track appointment with a primary focus on community-engaged scholarship, teaching and learning aligns with the new strategic plan of the School of Public Health – IMPACT 2030. The new strategic plan aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the U.S. Healthy People 2030 plan, and HSC’s Whole Health initiative, reflecting our commitment to transformative education, engaged scholarship, social accountability, a community-centered approach and global relevance. The candidate should have an earned doctorate with a focus on community engaged research, evaluation, and assessment; as well as MPH competency development through coursework and applied practice experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research:
- Develop and maintain community-engage research, assessment, practice and/or evaluation projects
- Collaborate with CPH and HSC colleagues and external academic and community partners to develop vibrant research teams and nurture an inclusive, interdisciplinary collaborative environment
- Teaching and Curriculum Development:
- Develop and deliver graduate-level curricula in public health emphasizing MPH core competencies and applied practice experience
- Create and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with the latest academic and/or industry trends
- Mentor students and early career researchers through advising and consultation on research projects and career development
- Service, Engagement, and Professional Development:
- Provide service and/or leadership in the College of Public Health and HSC
- Stay current with emerging trends and challenges in community-engaged public health practice and research
- Participate in relevant professional organizations and networks to maintain a strong presence to help improve student recruitment and outcomes and CPH reputation
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in public health, or a closely related field
- Proven graduate-level teaching experience
- Strong commitment to evidence-based teaching practices and student success
- Experience in community-engaged research, evaluation, and/or assessment
