The Testing Services at UNT Dallas is committed to supporting the academic and professional success of students and community members. Being the central testing location in the DFW metroplex, our testing center provides a plethora of exams, maintain exam integrity, provides a safe testing environment, and is committed to the proctoring services of high stakes certification exams, educational placement exams, and correspondence exams for other educational institutions.
Position Overview
The Testing Assistant provides frontline services to prospective and current students, test takers, and the general public. They assist by providing the necessary materials and parameters in which to complete their exams. Incumbents proctor tests, participate in New Student Orientation (as needed), collaborate with testing staff to assist in placement testing for new and returning students, enter scores, and refer students to appropriate departments after testing.
Minimum Qualifications
High school education or equivalent is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Policies and procedures related to admissions, registration, testing, and placement; Assessment and the interpretation and application of test results; Applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations; Available college and community resources and/or programs. Skills in: Researching and locating information on college website or information at community based organizations; Good time management; Providing excellent customer service. Ability to: Utilize computer technology and operate a variety of office equipment; Work with adult learners of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds; Remain calm in difficult situations and offer viable solutions; Effectively communicate in oral and written form; Work collaboratively in a fast changing environment; Follow protocols and escalation procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Associates degree in a relevant field and one year of experience working in an administrative or other similar environment
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Assist with department processes; including, but not limited to: registration, data entry, ensuring completeness of testing applications, test scheduling and testing room seating arrangements.
- Maintain visual supervision of the candidates; observe candidates carefully to ensure that they are working in the right section of the test booklet or answer sheet, for collusion, cheating and other improprieties or irregularities.
- Answer telephone, handling multiple lines.
- Handle routine office inquiries.
- May use the following software: PeopleSoft, Word, Excel, various testing software
- Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
Work Schedule:
28 hours per week (PT), Schedule varies based on needs of office.
