Position Overview
UNT Health Center for Older Adults, WellMed Clinic, is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team of healthcare providers at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. This role requires a candidate with strong organizational skills, a diverse set of interests and skill set, and strong interpersonal communication abilities. Candidate must exhibit compassion, understanding, the ability to work well in teams, and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment is critical for this position.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program and six (6) months of customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program required, three (3) years related experience in ambulatory care with older adults, NextGen experience, Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Medical Assistant certification and CPR (BLS) certification.
Job Duties
- Measure patient vital signs as standard of care. Perform procedures, injections, and administer vaccines as ordered by the provider. All care documented in the electronic health record.
- Optimize patient scheduling by managing patient flow and providing access to care. Following standard Department workflows.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Clean and sterilize instruments and properly dispose of contaminated or expired medical supplies.
- Perform and process routine laboratory tests and sample analyses as ordered by provider.
- Thoroughly complete provider orders, referrals, and insurance authorizations to ensure timely delivery of care and provide patient with educational material.
- Deliver culturally competent care that respects each patient's individual beliefs.
- Other duties as assigned.
