About Us - Values Overview
Department Summary
The Chemistry Department is known as a leader in research at UNT. Our faculty and graduate students successfully compete for research funds from both public and private sources, publish their groundbreaking research in top scientific journals, and are frequently highlighted and interviewed in the media.
Although our research groups are rooted in the traditional subdisciplines of analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, much of our current research is interdisciplinary and spans the boundaries of two or more of these areas. For example, we have strong faculty groups working at the frontiers of computational chemistry, materials chemistry, and catalysis. We are building a new strength in chemical biology, which uses the tools of chemistry to study biological systems. Finally, we are revitalizing our program in chemistry education research.
Position Overview

• Experience with mammalian cell culture, tissue culture techniques, and immunology-based assays.
• Experience with standard laboratory practices, data analysis, and documentation of experimental procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of mammalian cell culture and sterile technique.
• Experience with immune cell assays, inflammation models, and/or cell-based functional assays.
• Familiarity with techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, qPCR, Western blotting, microscopy, viability assays, cytokine analysis, and/or transwell-based assays.
• Ability to design, troubleshoot, and optimize experimental protocols.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and research records.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and present experimental data.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
• Commitment to laboratory safety, compliance, and reproducible research practices.
Preferred Qualifications
• PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience working with primary immune cells, macrophages, neutrophils, endothelial cells, epithelial cells, or co-culture systems.
• Experience with inflammatory disease models, cytokine signaling, innate immunity, or host–pathogen/inflammatory response pathways.
