Department Summary

The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic "bench-top" science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer's disease.

Position Overview

The position will participate in the administration and monitoring of clinical research studies and/or clinical trials. They will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating clinical data gathered during research. They will also ensure compliance with protocol and overall clinical objectives

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and one year experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of scientific research techniques, methods and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with fellow researchers, staff members, faculty, supervisors and students.
  • Academic writing skills.
  • Communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual English/ Spanish 

Job Duties

  • Conduct participant interviews in English and Spanish.
  • Conduct neuropsychological testing in English and Spanish.
  • Data entry.
  • Scoring of interview and testing data.
  • QC of files and data collected .
  • Participate in community recruitment of research participant.
  • Work with project coordinator to complete aspects of the research project and any other duties as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Environmental Hazards

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
