Department Summary

The UNT System Human Resources Department is one department made of a team of teams that supports various constituencies and component institutions within our UNT System Enterprise while working together to achieve the vision of becoming an enterprise that is values-driven and customer-focused with an emphasis on excellence, curiosity, and innovation. Position Overview

The Human Resources Department at the University of North Texas System is seeking to hire a Sr. HRIS Functional Analyst to join our team. This position performs highly complex (senior level) HCM ERP functional systems support work. Work involves providing support for departmental functional users for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications. The Senior HRIS Functional Analyst provides expertise and support to core HR systems through system support, configuration, process design and improvement, data accuracy, analytics, and integrations. Consult with business partners to research, document, implement, and execute new and/or revised HR programs. This position also serves as a technical point of contact for assigned functional areas. Act as the liaison between business teams, application vendors and IT for system integrations, enhancements and issue fixes; Responsible for translating business needs to system design, conduct system/data analysis, and participating in testing and deployment activities. This role blends deep expertise in PeopleSoft HCM modules with advanced analytics capabilities using Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver who excels at translating business requirements into system configurations, reporting solutions, and streamlined processes. This position reports to Sr. Director of HRIS.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, business information systems or related field; and six years of progressively responsible experience in HR or IT providing direct HRIS support; or any equivalent combination of experience, education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM with involvement in direct support and configuration of PeopleSoft HCM enterprise application. Technical knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM. Ability to lead and make changes to configure, setup and troubleshoot ERP functionality. Strong understanding of Core HR, benefits, compensation, recruitment, learning management, performance management and other HR business processes. Experience with data integration between internal systems and key external partners. Analytic skills with an understanding of the concepts and issues unique to the management of HR data and PeopleSoft HCM. Ability to be a liaison between functional users and technical support teams. Familiar with relational database concepts. Strong experience in business process evaluation and documentation. Ability to debug, understand and modify SQL and/.or PL/SQL code to extract data from relational database. Advanced SQL query and data analysis/reporting skill. Knowledge of MS Word, Advanced Excel, Access, PowerPoint and ability to use effectively in data analysis and documentation. Organizational skills with the ability balance multiple demands and thrive in a collaborative and ambiguous environment. Experience writing business requirements for software solutions. Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive material. Maintain data integrity, data security, and oversee regular system audits; identify and resolve data discrepancies. Design, build, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards, datasets, and reports to provide actionable insights into HR and business leadership. Ensure data accuracy, usability, and security across all reporting solutions. Support data governance, security role management, and compliance with internal controls. Ensure adherence to regulations related to employee data.

Job Duties

  • Implement new EIS (HR) functionality in conjunction with ITSS staff and/or consultants. 
  • Test vendor updates to the HR applications; i.e. patches and fixes. 
  • Test HR application enhancements and new functionality developed by technical support teams. 
  • Lead FitGap Sessions to assess clients existing business process to delivered HR software functionality.
  • Recommend alternative business process solutions to accommodate HR software gaps. 
  • Provide firstline of defense and support investigating and troubleshooting ERP HCM errors and issues reported by end users and work with ITSS resource to implement solution. 
  • Proactively engage with business users and surface flaws and improvement opportunities in the HR business process, paint points, and data integrity to HR leadership and/or to functional business owners.
  • Partner and collaborate with HRIS Reporting Analyst, HR Records, and HRIS Data Governance groups to analyze, identify and surface data integrity issues.
  • Responsible for collaborating with HR, IT, Payroll and vendor partners to analyze HR requirements and implement innovative technology solutions using the PeopleSoft HCM platform.
  • Work with large amounts of HR data: facts, figures, and number crunching. Ability to see through the data and analyze it to find conclusions and/or patterns.
  • Support end users through analysis, and if necessary, recreation of the issue to determine the root cause (i.e. system configuration, data integrity, manual error, etc.) and provide resolution to the end user based on the root cause, determine necessary changes to prevent recurrences. 
  • Serve internal customers with a high level of service by proactively identifying systems improvements to deliver effortlessly reliable, accessible, and adaptable data to support external and internal reporting requirements.
