The Center for Belonging & Engagement develops learning opportunities and provides collaborative programs for students to engage as active citizens and leaders in the community. The Center is part of a great team in the Division of Student Affairs.
Position Overview
The CONNECT Coordinator is a member of the Center for Belonging & Engagement team and is responsible for planning programs and services to support student engagement, growth and student success.
• Coordinate and develop campuswide programs and services associated with creating a sense of belonging for all UNT students, focusing on disengaged and approved under-served student populations. This includes occasional programming for Discovery Park and Frisco campuses.
o Coordinator will be responsible for focusing on non-traditional undergraduate students, student parents, commuter students, online and distance students, and graduate students.
o Coordinator will be responsible for coordination of Non-Trad Week, and Alpha Sigma Lambda Inductions.
• Along with the SOAR Coordinator, act as primary point of contact for Center for Belonging & Engagement communication efforts, including but not limited to social media channels, newsletters, marketing related to programming efforts, student highlights and promotion for resources and initiatives for their respective areas.
• Prepare and administer budget for respective programs and services.
• Facilitate assessment activities that help improve programs and services in the Center for Belonging & Engagement.
• Create reports for respective programs and services to include engagement, retention and student learning outcomes.
• Meet one on one with students to provide support, encourage development, and connect them to on and off-campus resources.
• Develop resources to improve the engagement and success of non-traditional undergraduate students, student parents, commuter students, online and distance students, and graduate students.
• Hire, train, supervise, and develop the Non-Trad Graduate Assistant. This includes job posting and interview processes, onboarding and office training, regular one-on-one meetings, personal and professional development, and evaluations.
• Develop relationships, work closely, and collaborate with other departments across campus as well as community organizations and resources. Coordinator will be the primary point of contact for Graduate Student Council, Career Center, Orientation & Transition Programs, Online Student Experience, Frisco and Discovery Park Campuses, Facilities, and Dean of Students Office (specifically for lactation spaces).
• Conduct presentations and outreach efforts about the programs and services in the Center for Belonging & Engagement.
• Serve as part of Center for Belonging & Engagement staff support on all largescale events.
• Represent Center for Belonging & Engagement on division and university committees, as requested.
• Support the daily functions of the Center for Belonging & Engagement as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years' of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to work effectively with a large student population in Texas.
• Knowledge of issues, challenges, and assistive services and programs college students need.
• Knowledge of issues related to student development at the collegiate level.
• Ability to effectively advise and mentor college students.
• Knowledge of campus activities program creation and facilitation.
• Ability to utilize strong project management skills.
• Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
• Ability to utilize strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Master degree in Higher Education, Education, Student Support or related field.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Meet with students individually to provide mentorship and guidance navigating resources and success building
- Promote/advertise programs and services
- Develop new resources, programs, and services for target audience
- Facilitate assessment activities to improve programs and services
- Coordinate campuswide programs and services for nontraditional, commuter, graduate, off campus, and online students
- Provide staff support at all largescale events
- Supervise and train a graduate assistant and student employee
- Coordinate the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of paid and volunteer students
- Prepare and manage budget for programs and services
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8-5PM, with some nights and weekends.
