Position Overview
Work with the graduate students on establishing the 3-omega experiment to measure thermal conductivity of thin films.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Recognize advancement in laboratory research.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. with industry experience in infrared sensors.;
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Valid Texas Driver's License
Job Duties
- Design the experimental setup for thermal conductivity measurements using the 3-omega technique.
- Assess the performance of the lock-in amplifier and suggest modifications to the experimental set up to make measurements in the high-frequency range.
- Design the heater pads on select substrates in terms of its geometry to ensure radial heat flow and estimate the thermal penetration depth.
- Review literature to obtain appropriate equations to measure thermal conductivity.
- Compare the measured values with standards for SiO2, quartz, Si, TiN
