Department Summary
The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) School of Business invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Visiting Instructor of Accounting position within the School of Business starting in Fall 2025. This position has the possibility of turning into a full-time tenure track position in the 2026-27 academic year. This position will teach a range of topics within undergraduate accounting graduate courses. UNT Dallas – is the only public four-year university exclusively in the City of Dallas. Position Overview
This is a visiting position for the 2025-26 academic year with the possibility of a tenure track position in 2026-27. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching 4 courses per semester.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned master’s degree in accounting or a graduate degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in accounting from an accredited institution credit hours in accounting.
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting at the college/university level.
Demonstrated effective writing and verbal communication skills.
Evidence of ability to contribute to the positive culture of our school, university, and community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate accounting courses.
• Develop and deliver engaging, high-quality lectures, assignments, and assessments aligned with course learning objectives.
• Hold regular office hours to provide students with guidance and support on coursework and career development.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
• Engage in service to our school, university, and community (i.e., participate in school and program meetings, events, and other service activities as needed).
Preferred Qualifications
• A doctoral degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
• Professional experience in accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality research in accounting. (This is required for this applicant to be considered for the full-time tenure track position in the 2026-27 academic year.)
• Prior college-level accounting teaching experience and experience teaching in multiple modalities (e.g., face to face, online, hybrid, hyflex).
• Commitment to active learning, student-centered teaching methodologies, and inclusive education practices.
• Professional certification in accounting (CPA, CMA, CIA, CFE) and/or active engagement in professional accounting organizations.
