The University of North Texas Health Science Center (HSC) at Fort Worth College of Pharmacy (HSCCP) is inviting applications for an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy. This individual will serve to support the teaching mission of the College of Pharmacy, and its' Doctor of Pharmacy program Located at UNTHSC campus in Fort Worth, HSCCP joined colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Public Health, Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences in 2013. HSCCP graduated its' first class and received accreditation from Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in 2017.
Position Overview
The Adjunct Associate Professor will contribute to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum by providing high-quality teaching and engaging in professional academic development activities at HSCCP. This position will require a commitment of approximately 4 hours per week, with responsibilities primarily focused on teaching specific courses/content within the PharmD program. The successful candidate will collaborate with Department leadership and HSCCP faculty, providing expertise in their area of specialization and fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment for student pharmacists.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have graduated from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program with Doctor of Pharmacy (or equivalent)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacy practice, with academic/teaching experience
preferred. - Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate students in a variety of learning environments.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students.
Job Duties:
- Works under the leadership of the Chair to deliver the PharmD curriculum for Professional Years 1 to 3 (PY1, PY2, PY3) as it relates to the pharmacy practice components of professional pharmacy education.
- Deliver didactic sessions, facilitate group learning sessions, lead discussions, and conduct student assessments for designated course sessions in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum.
- Participate in the guidance and support of students through email or other communication channels (e.g., Learning Management System).
- Collaborate with the Chair and course directors to ensure alignment of session materials with overall curriculum and program objectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through course session planning, review and feedback.
Work Schedule:
Teaching effort will occur during typical work hours (Monday to Friday between 8:00 - 5:00 PM) on campus and in alignment with teaching assignment/effort.
