Department Summary
Administrative Information Support Services (AITS) is uniquely positioned to support the University's mission by providing the primary university-wide, shared resources of computing hardware, software, data and voice communications, and technology professional personnel on campus. AITS is called upon to provide computing and electronic communications resources when it can do so more effectively or more efficiently than separate units. The Frisco IT team provides broad technology support for the College of Applied and Collaborative Studies (CACS) and UNT at Frisco campus-level units.
Position Overview
This position oversees support for Administration, Faculty, Staff, Students, and Guests of the UNT at Frisco campus and the College of Applied and Collaborative Studies. Responsibilities include technology support and lifecycle management for Campus and College units; prioritizing projects and resources to accomplish defined goals & objectives; leading other technical staff; assisting with planning & developing short- and long-term goals & strategies for technology systems and support to meet high-level College and Campus goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field and four years' of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Prior experience with specific systems, equipment, and software as needed by the department.
- Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments.
- Ability to supervise and train subordinates.
- Ability to operate and install computer and other electronic systems.
- Ability to assimilate, retain, and utilize technical & applications-oriented information.
- Previous experience supporting, troubleshooting, and installing digital signage and automated AV equipment.
- Previous experience providing technology support for live events, including setup & teardown, audio mixing, video recording.
- Knowledge and experience with application and package preparation and deployment using SCCM, JAMF, etc.
- Knowledge and experience creating and deploying Windows system images using SCCM.
- Practical experience with scripting and automation techniques on Windows, MacOS, and Linux (batch, Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
- Considerable experience developing both technical and end-user support documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience.
- IT and A/V industry or manufacturing certifications, such as ITIL, Microsoft, Avixa, Extron, etc.
- Previous experience managing hardware and software servers.
- Prior experience with remote monitoring, anti-virus, management, scripting, and deployment tools, such as Zabbix, Rapid7, ConnectWise, SCCM, Intune, CrowdStrike, PowerShell, Python, GlobalViewer Enterprise, Jenkins, Git, JAMF, etc.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Provides operational and lifecycle support (including commissioning, deployment, training, patch-management, decommissioning, user support, etc.) for end-user workstations and technology including desktops, laptops, printers, docking stations, A/V devices, etc.
- Ensures exceptional end-user experience through hands-on technical support & training, preventative maintenance, root-cause analysis, testing & documentation, technical staff development, etc.
- Collaborates and coordinates with Administration, department stakeholders, UNT & UNT System distributed technology teams, end-users, project managers, third-party vendors, etc. as needed to plan and execute new deployments/installations, relocations, renovations, construction projects, etc.
- Continually monitor cybersecurity footprint of installed applications, servers, and systems to proactively mitigate vulnerabilities, and respond to detected threats appropriately.
- Analyzes new and existing systems, hardware, software, etc. assist with developing strategic plans as well as short- and long-term courses of action to meet the Campus and College unit goals and objectives.
Work Schedule:
7:30-4:30 Monday through Friday, with occasional night/weekend/on-call
