Department Summary
The Texas Municipal Clerks Association, Inc. (TMCA), is a statewide professional organization dedicated to providing an educational and professional development program for novice and experienced city clerks. While TMCA does not work directly with UNT students, our department helps to fulfill UNT’s mission of service to the community. Our goals and efforts serve the demands of excellence in local governments across Texas. We provide a program that motivates and allows municipal clerks in Texas to become leaders in their fields of governance.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for all logistical support of the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program. Responsibilities include event planning and onsite management of five annual offsite educational seminars including hotel and speaker contracts; collaboration with Education Director for curriculum delivery and evaluation of program activities; supervision of program income and departmental budget.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field and three years of professional related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of University operations, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of fiscal management and ability to develop and manage event related contracts and budgets.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be able to travel offsite to Program educational conferences.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience leading teams or working in collaborative environments, demonstrating interpersonal and leadership skills.
Job Duties:
- Collaborates with the Education Director in the planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating of program activities to meet goals of the Program. Plans for all logistical support of Program including curriculum delivery, marketing, seminar site locations, inventory, budget, calendar, etc.
- Prepares and oversees the annual Program budget. Supervises the receipt of income, assures that it is deposited in proper accounts, and initiates the payment of all Program expenses.
- Plans, coordinates, and manages five annual offsite educational seminars. This includes hotel and speaker contracts, marketing, oversite of registration, and production of seminar materials.
- Receives and responds to inquiries for information from program constituents, and processes enrollments.
- Provides supervision and counseling for students enrolled in the Program including setting up student accounts and acting as a liaison between students and University online learning management software (Canvass).
- Assists Education Director with curriculum and exam revisions, compiles exams, and assists with the management of curriculum and homework submissions on Canvass.
- Serves as liaison between UNT and the TMCA Executive Board (professional organization).
