The Department of Technical Communication stands out as one of the few independent departments in the nation and the only one in Texas based within a major metropolis. Position Overview
The University of North Texas invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in technical communication, beginning Fall 2025. We seek a candidate with strong expertise in artificial intelligence and automation, health/science communication, informatics, or translation and localization.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in strengthening our courses in AI, content strategy, and information design, using their expertise to shape the next generation of technical communicators.
As a tenure-track faculty member, the candidate will be expected to establish a record of scholarly research necessary for tenure and regularly teach undergraduate and graduate courses in technical communication. The typical teaching load for junior faculty is 2/2.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. in technical communication, information science, learning technologies, or related field by the time of appointment.
• Defined research agenda, the ability to teach a variety of foundational courses in technical communication, and experience teaching courses at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching in tech comm in online or hybrid modalities.
• Industry experience as a technical communicator, information architect, content strategist or related field.
