Position Overview
The Compensation Analyst provides direct support in the administration of compensation and performance management policies and procedures. The incumbent in this position works with a variety of stakeholders across all UNT System institutions to provide guidance, recommendations, and resolve compensation and performance evaluation system issues. This is a professional role responsible for providing direct customer support and facilitating compensation and performance management strategy within the UNT System and its component institutions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or related field and two (2) years of directly related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge of the principles and practices of compensation management, to include the areas of position classification, workforce analytics and salary administration, as well as knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing compensation activities.
* Knowledge of common performance management practices and methodologies.
* Strong oral and written communication skills, to include the ability to adequately explain policies and procedures to staff and other customers.
* Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
* Proficient in the use of computer, human resource and enterprise information systems, to include proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point software applications.
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate data.
* Ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple assignments.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
* Ability to work in a fast paced environment, with frequently changing priorities.
* Ability to maintain a focus on a high level of customer service and follow through.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous related experience in education or medical setting is preferred.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Provides detailed information, guidance and support on standard compensation, classification and performance management issues involving the interpretation and application of related policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Collects data and ensures data integrity for compensation surveys, job analysis, and job evaluation.
- Performs classifications/reclassifications, market, and internal equity reviews.
- Assists in the planning, coordination, administration, and reporting of merit and supplemental compensation programs.
- Writes job descriptions to accurately describe job content and qualifications.
- Analyzes staff positions to determine FLSA classification and salary grade.
- Supports the design and implementation of compensation, classification and performance management policies, procedures, and programs.
- Works to integrate functional and technical requirements for special projects or process improvements.
- Provides input and feedback that enhances the delivery of existing programs including research on best practices.
- Assists in the preparation and facilitation of training.
- Maintains and enhances performance management tools and related processes, including execution of electronic performance management processes and data management.
- Monitors, processes and responds to compensation requests received from constituents in a timely manner.
