As a department within Student Affairs, the University of North Texas at Dallas Counseling & Wellness Center offers services to all enrolled students. The UNT Dallas Counseling & Wellness Center provides short-term individual counseling, group counseling, wellness programming, crisis intervention, and case management services. The UNT Dallas Counseling & Wellness Center offers a holistic approach to providing services to students, and is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and confirming environments for all.
Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Director, Counseling and Wellness Services. Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or become fully licensed in Texas within six months of employment, and five years of related professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- A PhD or ADB in counseling, psychology, counseling psychology or social work with at least two years of related experience.
- Possess good oral, written and interpersonal skills Ability to relate effectively with students, colleagues, faculty, staff and administrators.
- Possess strong student service orientation.
- Ability to function effectively within the organizational and administrative structure of a university counseling center.
- Experience in a college counseling center or other relevant university setting is preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) required; Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor (LPC-S) preferred.
Job Duties:
- Oversees the day-to-day functioning of UNT Dallas Counseling and Wellness Services, including strategic planning, goal setting, budget management, performance management and staff oversight.
- Performs policy review and development related to areas of oversight to ensure that monitoring systems are in place to track compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, providing training for all staff to comply with relevant laws and regulations.
- Participates in the Student Affairs Leadership Team in advancing division initiatives.
- Forms and maintains contacts with university and community partners, serving on committees as needed.
- Conducts Licensed Professional Counselor supervision in accordance with Texas State Department of Health standards; evaluates candidate performance; performs case consultation; reviews related tapes.
- Supervises the work of assigned personnel such as Counseling/Social Work Interns, Administrative Secretary, Case Manager, Full and parttime counselors, and student workers.
- Directs staff in providing individual counseling, crisis intervention and substance abuse assessment; serves as Core Member of the CARE Team.
- Adheres to and fosters high standards of ethical conduct, compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and appropriate financial oversight and controls.
- Observes safety, security, and confidentiality precautions appropriate to work performed.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Weekdays: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., occasional evening and Saturday
