Position Overview
This position is responsible for the coordination and day to day operations of multiple financial aid and scholarship processes within a team and provides expertise within these areas of specialization. Serves as a primary contact for others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's in related field, 3 years in student services or related roles. Equivalent education, training, experience accepted. Must maintain good standing on federal student loans, grant NSLDS access for hire & continued employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- In depth knowledge of financial aid processes, policies and procedures or ability to quickly assimilate.
- Ability to problem solve, multitask and organize in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Two years of experience within a Financial Aid Office.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
- Knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
- Working knowledge of the federal regulations that govern the Return to Title IV calculations.
- Customer service experience in multiple settings.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- The physical ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions. Skill in composing routine letters and preparing reports.
- Skill in recording and compiling material for reports.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excel and Data Analysis experience.
- Strong public speaking skills.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student loans and must grant permission for the office to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to verify such standing.
Job Duties:
- Educates on and determines eligibility for and awarding all aspects of federal, state and institutional financial aid and scholarship. Analyzes and processes financial aid and/or scholarship applications and determines eligibility for all aid programs according to federal, state and institutional regulations, policies and procedures. Assists with implementing and coordinating methods of work activity to assure compliance.
- Serves as the team lead and contact for specific team within Financial Aid and Scholarships (FAS).
- Maintains and applies knowledge of FAS Policy Manual and procedures and keeps abreast of information that impacts the functioning of the FAS department through the reading of related literature and by attending and participating in meetings. Proposes changes to policy, when needed, based on changes to regulations and programs.
- Responsible for communication with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders in the resolutions of complex issues, liaising between parties, educating on relevant policies and regulations, and following up as appropriate.
- Develops training materials and provides training related to financial aid and scholarship processes within areas of specialization.
- Participates in outreach initiatives that promote awareness of financial assistance. Prepares and conducts presentations.
- Serve as leader for Return to Title IV and loan team, oversee student loan processing and monitor compliance. Review loan reports and resolve issues as needed.
- Accessing, utilizing and updating information into the PeopleSoft system, ImageNow, National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), Common Origination Disbursement Web Site (COD) and FAA access. and other associated software programs.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, with occasional nights/weekends.
