Position Overview
The Mail & Receiving Manager is responsible for the management of mail operations at Eagle Post. This position interacts with campus departments, UNT students, and various mail related vendors.
This position requires the use of independent judgment and discretion to establish priorities, direct, determine and implement processes and manage the Eagle Post staff. They direct all aspects of Eagle Post mail operations and provide the highest level of customer service and quality of work.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED equivalent and two (2) years experience in postal office or mail services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Can substitute United States Postal Service (USPS) certification for experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of mail handling procedures, postal regulations, and shipping practices.
Familiarity with mailroom equipment, including lockers, sorting machines, scales, and barcode scanners.
Understanding of inventory management, packaging, and distribution logistics.
Knowledge of customer service principles and how to handle complaints effectively.
Strong organizational skills to manage mail services, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely deliveries.
Proficiency in using mailroom technology, software, and equipment for efficient processing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, vendors, and campus departments.
Skilled in training, coaching, and evaluating staff to ensure high performance and compliance with policies.
Ability to supervise mailroom operations, ensuring efficient and accurate mail processing.
Ability to make decisions independently, ensuring customer service excellence and timely deliveries.

Job Duties
- Organizes work flow and mail operations, such as the processing of incoming and outgoing mail.
- Supervises staff including hiring, training, and evaluating their performance.
- Ensures policies and procedures are followed as they relate to mail operations (including compliance with USPS standards and policies and UNT policies).
- Performs or assists with mailroom duties and daily operations.
- Investigates service complaints and takes corrective action.
- Manages and maintains inventory and equipment to ensure in working order.
- Manages relationships with United States Postal Service and various delivery vendors to ensure timely mail deliveries. - (Essential)
- Manages Eagle Post budget.
- Ensures a safe working environment.
