The Department of Mechanical Engineering has a mission to provide a high quality education to our diverse student population through excellence and innovation in teaching and research in order to serve the scientific and engineering needs of the state of Texas and the nation. This will be achieved by a balance of formal course work, practical laboratory training, and research projects that encompass both the basic science and the applied aspects of mechanical engineering. The department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering degrees.

Position Overview
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas is offering a full-time post-doctoral research associate position to work on a federally sponsored fundamental science research project that is broadly focused on nanoscale energy transport, optical and electronic properties of nanomaterials, plasmonics, metamaterials, and general electromagnetic radiation.
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field and research experience in the fields that are related to the focus areas of the position. In addition, the candidate should have a proven track record of publications in relevant journals and conferences. Good communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include strong design, simulation, and analytical capabilities, as well as hands-on nano/microscale fabrication in the cleanroom. Must demonstrate self-motivation and strong teamwork skills. The role will involve grant proposal development and assistance.
