Department Summary

The UNT Dallas College of Law is a Fully-Approved ABA public law school in downtown Dallas with a full-time day division and a part-time evening division. The College of Law’s goals are: (1) widening access to legal education for those who could be superb legal professionals but who cannot realistically access a legal education given factors including location, cost, and the current role of the LSAT in admission to and financing of law school; (2) providing an educational program focused on excellence in developing practice-related competencies, through a curriculum mapped to those competencies and using best instructional practices, including multiple formative and summative assessment throughout, engaged class design, and a spectrum of experiential education; (3) creating opportunity for our students by keeping tuition and debt low and producing graduates with high value and ability in multiple segments of the market for legal services; (4) becoming a national leader in advancing understanding of best legal education practices, of professional formation, and of the relationship between legal education and the evolving practice and business of law; (5) improving access to justice for underserved legal needs; and (6) serving as a valuable partner in civic engagement with the City of Dallas and the North Texas region.

This position is responsible for receptionist duties which includes welcoming and directing visitors (e.g. students, faculty, staff, attorneys and judges, donors, university officials, elected officials, and others) by greeting them in person or on the telephone, and for answering or referring inquiries. Responsible for routine administrative support that may include inventory, developing/creating correspondence, account reconciliation, event scheduling, purchasing, data collection, meeting logistics, payroll, and travel vouchers. Position duties require some independent judgment and decision-making; resolves routine questions where problems have occurred before and their solutions generally are familiar; and refers more complex issues to higher levels.

Position Overview

The Office of the Dean Senior Administrative Associate is the first point of contact for all UNT Dallas College of Law Deans Office visitors and guests. The Senior Administrative Associate is responsible for providing secretarial, clerical, and administrative support in order to ensure that customer service is provided in an effective and efficient manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent three (3) years of general office or clerical experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic MS Office skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures, and terminology of assigned function
  • Skilled in composing routine letters and preparing reports
  • Skilled in recording and compiling material for reports

Job Duties:

  • Reports to the Business Operations Manager, and oversees administrative operations in the Office of the Dean.
  • Promptly completes assignments and keeps calendars for Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
  • Assists the Associate Dean with preparing lecture materials, reports, and responses to official inquiries from internal and external constituencies 
  • Serves as personal assistant to the Office of the Dean, maintaining calendar, appointments, correspondence and files. 
  • Organizes meetings and assists with special event logistics including room assignment; announcement, invitation, handout preparation and distribution; catering and logistical arrangements 
  • Orders, monitors and maintains adequate levels of office supplies and administrative materials; makes other purchases as needed.
  • Assists with the planning and execution of College of Law special events. 
  • Responsible for the College of Law main phone line 
  • Understands and follows rules regarding principles of confidentiality relating to all office and student matters. 
  • Perform related duties as required. 

Work Schedule:

  • 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.- Flexibility coverage on evenings and weekends, as assigned.
