Department Summary
Army ROTC (Military Science) is a college elective course designed to develop individual leadership skills for either a military or civilian career. Army ROTC offers dynamic training that focuses on complete leadership development. The purpose of the program is to educate, develop, and inspire qualified students for a commission in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, or Army National Guard.
Position Overview
Manages and provides oversight of all business and administrative matters of the Military Science Department and Army ROTC program, which includes financial planning and management, human resource planning, facilities management, environmental health and safety compliance, onboarding faculty and staff, and coordination for special events. Liaises with program headquarters at UT Arlington; maintains staff records, student enrollment, military awards, scholarships, and coordinates with other UNT departments and entities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and three years' of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
- Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
- Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
- Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.
- Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
- Supervisory skills.

Job Duties:
Program Scheduling:
- Deconflicts challenging schedules between department Chair and University Deans, the Provost, and departments as well as Army ROTC programs at UT Arlington, Texas Woman’s University and Collin College. Reviews and edits class schedules.
Coordinating:
- Department representative for CLASS. Liaise with organizations in and outside of UNT to ensure routine and special events are supported. Responsible for onboarding new faculty and staff.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively as the first point of contact for students, visitors and UNT departments; portray a positive image of the department.
Facilities:
- Coordinate servicing/maintenance for office equipment for UNT owned computers, printers and peripherals. Maintain the Building of ROTC Building and coordinate with outside agencies to ensure its upkeep and improvement.
Logistics:
- Manages purchase and delivery of Army equipment and instructional supplies unique to department.
Finance:
- Understands UNT systems for purchases. Prepares monthly spending reports. Provides annual spending projections for department. Coordinates financial and personnel requirements w/ CLASS Associate Dean for Fiscal and Human Resources.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday; 8:00am to 5:00pm. 40 hrs/week.
