Department Summary
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL) currently supports a BBA in Real Estate and a BBA in Real Estate with a concentration in Residential Property Management. The department is well connected with the Real Estate industry in the DFW and Texas region, has a strong record of student placement and guest speakers, and an active Real Estate student club. The duties for this position are a blend of teaching and service responsibilities.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Overview
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL) at the University of North Texas, Ryan College of Business invites applications for a senior lecturer and industry liaison starting Fall 2025 or earlier.
Teaching Responsibilities: The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to effective teaching and the preparation of students for professional success in a multicultural business environment. The candidate will be able to develop and teach undergraduate courses in real estate, including but not limited to real estate finance, property management, market analysis, and sustainability. The candidate is expected to incorporate current industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements into the curriculum to provide students with a relevant and comprehensive education.
Service Responsibilities: This individual will work with the Dean of the Ryan College of Business and college/campus advancement staff to create the John S. Baen Center for Real Estate Studies. The selected individual will join the dean in external philanthropic activities, energetically engage the real estate community to support the center's programming, connect students with internships and employment in the real estate industry, and promote the visibility of the center both on campus and throughout the state.
Other responsibilities of the position include creating and managing an advisory board to gain support for the center's activities while leveraging its connections with industry.
The position will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of real estate education and industry engagement in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business. This position will emphasize the networking of the college's real estate faculty and students with the real estate and affiliated industries.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate degree in real estate or a related business/administrative discipline
At least ten years of experience in the real estate industry
At least five years of experience in a managerial or supervisory position
Preferred Qualifications
At least five years of experience in a senior industry position
Experience with the management and coordination of an advisory or governing board
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Required License/Registration/Certifications
