Department Summary
The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is excited to announce the formation of its College of Nursing. The new college will help address the shortage of nurses in Texas, which has the second-fewest nurses per capita in the U.S.
The new College of Nursing will join five other colleges and schools offering degree programs at HSC: the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions and College of Pharmacy.
Position Overview
This position serves as the Academic Communications Director for the Dean of the College of Nursing. This position provides and advises all parties on strategic communications, collegiate branding, marketing, and community and alumni relations. The role will have the opportunity to: Continually search for ways to provide value added solutions; Adapt to changing needs; Respond appropriately to new information and priority changes.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of communications, marketing, and branding practices. Skill in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows navigation. Strong business acumen, excellent leadership skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience managing marketing collateral design. Familiarity with development process for print and digital communications channels, including website and broadcast. Experience with story development, which includes conducting research and interviews, copy writing, editing and sourcing digital assets.
Job Duties:
- Serve as the senior communications and strategy officer for the college.
- Work collaboratively with the Admissions and Recruiting Team to support recruitment marketing initiatives.
- Support the college by cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholders and strategic partners. Work collaboratively with the Advancement Office to promote the College of Nursing.
- Oversee robust, integrated strategic communication and marketing plan to achieve the college's objectives. Bring together all facets of strategic messaging, media relations, print and digital communication, issues and crisis management, and messaging with the HSC MarCom Team.
- Assist Dean with presentations and communications.
- Oversee the content of the college's landing pages on unthsc.edu. Coordinate and maintain an engaging social media program.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate system of internal controls for management and measurement of communications and marketing efforts.
- Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal and external mediums.
- Participate in special events as needed. Represent the College of Nursing on committees as requested. Perform other related duties as assigned.
